I serverved with Neil in Vietnam and remember him well. i remember the summer day in 1967 that I first noticed the name "Georgie Dunbar" written on his hemlet. He had a conversation about the name and about his writing. He allways had that smile and way about him. We traded a few emails in the past years but never got to cross paths again. I have through of him often since our time together in Vietnam. I'll see you again with the eye of my heart brother, 'Georgie Dunbar'..... BE HERE NOW...........
I bought my second BMW on a consignment sale at Lonestar. I had taken it for a test ride while my R100RT was in for service. At the time it was too pricey but a couple of months later Robert called and told me the owner had dropped the price.
Well, the owner was Neil and the bike was Hans - K100RS. Niel wrote me a four-page, single-spaced letter containing the history and the care and feeding of Hans. I rode that bike for 13 years and 80,000 miles and Neil never forgot to ask me about Hans when we met at the shop.
The last time I saw him was at Lonestar just a couple of days before his last ride.
Ride in Peace
